David Gumner brings over 30 years of brand building, marketing, sales, and business management experience to his role as Chief Marketing Officer at Boulder Botanical & Bioscience Labs (BBB Labs), including more than 15 years in natural and organic products. David’s focus is on building profitable, iconic consumer brands. His approach utilizes consumer research and data-driven trend analysis to identify consumer needs “gaps” to create & develop products & services that best deliver against those unmet consumer needs. David has successfully launched and grown, and many popular consumer brands, with experience in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, Asia-Pacific, and South America.

Prior to joining BBB Labs, David consulted for the past 8 years to several emerging and growing natural food, nutrition bar, health & energy beverage, nutritional supplement, natural health/wellness, CBD, and natural beauty care clients. His practice focused on strategic marketing & brand positioning for transitioning from the natural health and wellness specialty market to the mainstream/mass consumer market. During his career, David has been involved in the “mainstreaming” of many niche natural products to the general consumer market.

David is very knowledgeable about consumer trends and the competitive market in the organic foods, nutritional and functional foods & beverages, vitamin, mineral, and herbal supplements (VMHS), sports nutrition & supplements, natural OTC remedies, natural beauty care, and the emerging hemp and cannabinoid categories. David is also expert in FDA-regulated categories and legal compliance under CFR Title 21 (FDCA & DSHEA).

David was previously Vice President, Mass Market Marketing and Business Development at Nature’s Way Products where he introduced and developed several new brands of natural health products and worked closely with Nature’s Way’s mass market retail partners, including Wal-Mart, Walgreen’s, CVS, Rite Aid, and Costco.

Earlier in his career, David served as the Vice President, Marketing for Next Proteins (Sports nutrition supplements); Metabolife (MLM Weight loss supplements); and Whole Foods Market (natural foods retailer).

David is a “classically-trained” consumer packaged goods (CPG) marketer, beginning his career at Procter & Gamble followed by Kraft Foods. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Tufts University and his MBA from Cornell University.
